Magnolia Plantation & Gardens

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is a historic rice plantation, a stunning 19th-century Romantic-style garden, and a site of remarkable natural diversity and beauty. Visitors can tour our 450 acres by tram, boat, bicycle, or on foot while learning the history of the families—Native, white, and Black, enslaved and free—who have lived here since the 1600s. We have a children's educational garden, interactive animal and bird exhibits, a cafe, and dozens of postcard-perfect areas for picnicking or photographs. Pets on leash welcome. Discussion of rice planting and slavery along with a guided tour of four restored African-American cabins included with admission. Guided tour of the Drayton family house and self-guided tour of the eerie Audubon Swamp also offered. Come see why Travel and Leisure called Magnolia "One of America’s Most Beautiful Gardens" and why we're consistently ranked among the top attractions in Charleston!
